Practice Makes Perfect
While being snow bound, to reduce some of the cabin fever that was setting in... Isabelle and I did lots of crafts, read lots of books (started on some short chapter books), colored lots. We have gotten very good at staying in the lines! YAY!

We also practiced our cutting! Not bad!

February Snow
YAY! That our mid-winter break happened this week! IT SNOWED... all week practically. Isabelle loved it and kept wanting to go out constantly...
These first set of pics was from day one... not too much as you can see.
And she 'licked' ... yes licked the sun dial.

She tried showing William the ropes, but he wasn't much into it.
He even tried a bite, but, alas, too cold.

She had to do a snow angel.

Way too cold.

So I thought, maybe he will like it if he is moving in a sled. So the following day, our we went again, since there was lots more snow, and with the sled off we went.
He REALLY didn't like it!
So, since we were then snowed in the next after that, Eric could stay in with William and I took Isabelle out with the sled.

We have now borrowed an infant/toddler sled to put William in, to see if he will like it, but the wind and horrible slushy rain has not let us venture out. Hopefully soon.

It is that time!
We have a WALKER!!!
Well... almost a walker... he took 3 steps today, all on his own. The look on his face was so funny!!! More to come! Trying to get it on video...

An Eternity Ago
Yesterday seems like that... an eternity ago, so pictures and more pictures are being uploaded... you never know what is in store from day to day... so just in case, memories in photos are getting posted!
Sayings to Live By...
We grow with our moms telling us all these sayings like:
'if your friends are all jumping off a bridge, you gonna do it too?'
'do as I say, not as I do'
'do you want me to give you a good reason to cry?'
'just wait till you have a child, just like you'
'if you keep doing that with your face, it's going to freeze like that'
Yes, we have all heard them growing up, and now that I'm a parent I am starting to use them too.
But one in particular came into light yesterday:
'Always wear clean underwear, you never know where you'll end up.'
So the (short) story goes: Alarm clock wakes me up, shower, dressed, leave for work, pull over on the side of the road in unbearable pain (would rather give birth to triplets naturally with no epidural), called Eric who called our nanny to get to the house earlier then usual), called my co-worker at work saying I wasn't going to make it and in turn he came to get me and take me to the ER, instead once he got there and saw 'me' he called 911. On a '10' scale, this was an 18.
Time moved so slowly as the pain migrated throughout my mid/lower left part of my back and intensified at an alarming rate. Giving birth and back spasms are so much better then this intense, non-release pain, and once it migrated to the spine ... there are no words, I actually screamed. Did I mention it got more intense... for about 20-30 minutes...
As soon as the EMT's got there the pain was gone, well more like a 3/4 on that 10 scale. All vitals looked good and well... 'what's the problem mam?' apparently nothing... hmmm . Eric finally got there too and it was recommended that I still go to the ER to get checked out... they all had their predictions on what had just happened. Plus I still hurt, but it was very bearable.
So off to the 'animal hospital' as Eric calls it, Enumclaw Hospital, newly opened and quite nice... but smack dab in the middle of nowhere, hence the nickname. No wait in the ER, got admitted and the IV started, all vitals good, and they had their predictions too, but nothing affirmed till I got my CT scan. So after a minimal dose of morphine, off I went to radiology, and an hour later all predictions were concluded... Kidney Stones. :P Sure enough too, while I was there, out it came into the little strainer. (Yes, I took it home- a 'rock' that looks like a large grain of sand). Once it was out, I got discharged and home we went.
So now I know what to expect, pain wise, the next time this happens... yes, I got more and once you get one, you are more then likely going to have more throughout your life, and they will unexpectedly 'drop you to your knees.'
I now have 'stoners sympathy' ;)
And of course, all of this has aggrivated the PSD, so back to PT I go. :P hahaha
So on a good note, it is (sometimes) a good thing to listen to our (sometimes) wise parents. They may know a thing or two. :)

Birthdays!!!
Ok WOW! Just realized that I have 2 birthdays a month a part from each other and I must start planning. 3 weeks from now a jungle themed party for the 1 year old and then 4 weeks later a princess themed party for the 4 year old, complete with crowns and dressing up! Isabelle has been planning and wanting a princess party since December, and hasn't wavered from this idea once.
I guess having them a month a part isn't so bad... I know individuals that have kids with 3 birthdays all in the same month. That would be chaotic!

Ahhh, the life
It is now February! Goodness where does the time go??
Having two kiddos is a blast except when they are sick. Make it less of a blast when their dad is sick too. Somehow I miraculously avoided the sinus infection and stomach flu that ensued upon my house a few weeks ago. It was bad... Eric disappeared to the back of the house for a few days, while I was up in the front of the house with poor William following in the same suit as daddy. I have never done so much laundry or given so many baths in a 3 day period. Isabelle didn't get any symptoms until 2 days after. Poor Girl. When I took them into the doctor, because William still wasn't recovering after 5 days and we were worried about dehydration, the doctor gave them a 'clean bill of health' which still boggles my mind. I mentioned the cough had been going on for 3 weeks and the Dr. replied with 'they have a sinus infection.' With a prescription written, we were out of there. Sadly the medication did a number on William and his reaction was 3 times more 'outbursts' out the diaper then when he was sick... and with a quick call to the Dr. we got that changed. Both of them seem to be on the mend, the coughing is far less.
It would be the first time in 9 years that I have ever taken a sick day, 2 actually. Of course, I am not counting maternity leave here.
Other happenings? Eric joined the IDPA, International Defensive Pistal Association, and goes once a month to practice shooting at targets. They have started a night shoot as well, which seems to be getting really popular.
All is going well with me too. My favorite things these days are watching movies about and playing with Tinkerbell, and reading all sorts of stories with Isabelle. Williams favorite thing to do is go for the TV and all things related to the TV, so pillow blockades are now up. It is fun to keep him occupied on other things, but his brain is very focused on getting through the blockades. I also have been having Thursday night outs with a girlfriend, a great way to get away, chat, relax, play trivia and go to new places, since she and I 'must' go to places where we can use our coupon books.
Plan for tonight, after work... fill out valentines' for Isabelle's classmates. Yikes! They are exchanging on Thursday.
