This last week has been one that won't ever be forgotten in the history of this world. Natural disasters have been tormenting the people of Japan. WA state time, Thur, Mar 3, 2011 , during the evening news, a horrible 9.0 earthquake rocked Japan from the water, moments later a tsunami hit the already rattled residents. Devastation did not come from the earthquake, minor destruction and power outages. The almost instant tsunami on the other hand, completely devastated everything in its path for 3 miles inland. Looking at the photos looks like pick-up sticks were dropped on toy cars and planes.
I have been glued to the TV... I find it so hard to stop looking at this unbelievable site. Technology is so wonderful these days that when it happened Thursday night, and we were able to watch the first wave come out of the ocean and travel across the land and destroy all in its path as it happened. It wasn't a replay, it was happening that moment. It looked like slow motion. My brain knew better, that nothing but massive amounts of fast rushing water could move things like barges, whole houses, and tanker trucks, or make a passenger train completely disappear... but watching it was unbelievable and 'slow' as the water 'simply' covered, carried and leveled everything.
Instantly, thought of friends from college that live in Japan came across my mind, friends who's family are there for work, and all the citizens of Japan were in my prayers and still are... will be for a long time.
Sadly though, earthquakes with all the aftershocks and tsunami are not the end. (Mind too, that it is freezing temperatures currently there, many videos have it snowing while people are videoing the tsunami surging across the land). The threat of the nuclear power plant and its meltdown/explosions... and tonight, Sunday, 4 days later, a volcano in the southern part of the country has erupted! What next!?? I wish that natural disasters would stop over there, so the rescue can take place and the people can begin the rebuilding process. I pray that food, clean water and medical treatment can get to everyone, before disease becomes an epidemic.
Praying for those Japan!
Oh and now Tokyo is 8 feet closer to the US and the Earth's axis tilt has moved 4 inches. WOW!
